Sarah Sichen Wu, Esq.
Sarah Sichen Wu is the founder and principal attorney of L.A. Family Law Center. Her practice focuses on prenuptial agreements, postnuptial agreements, family law, and assisted reproduction.
Ms. Wu represents clients in the preparation, review, and negotiation of marital agreements. She works with individuals who own businesses, real estate, investment accounts, retirement assets, professional practices, inherited property, or property located outside the United States. She also represents clients who have received a proposed agreement and need independent advice before signing.
Her work includes analyzing and drafting provisions concerning:
- Separate and community property
- Earnings and acquisitions during marriage
- Business ownership and appreciation
- Real-property ownership and mortgage payments
- Reimbursement and tracing rights
- Joint accounts and jointly titled assets
- Debts and liabilities
- Retirement and employment benefits
- Stock options and restricted stock units
- Gifts and inheritances
- Spousal support
- Financial disclosure
- Estate rights
- Confidentiality
- Choice of law and cross-border property
- Assisted reproduction and family-building plans
Ms. Wu's approach to marital agreements is informed by her litigation experience. Before founding L.A. Family Law Center, she practiced at a California law firm and appeared in state and federal court matters. Her experience with contested cases helps her identify provisions that may be ambiguous, difficult to prove, or impractical to enforce.
Ms. Wu also has substantial experience in surrogacy and assisted-reproduction law. She and her office have handled hundreds of gestational-surrogacy matters and assisted intended parents with surrogacy agreements, donor arrangements, and proceedings to establish parental rights. She now applies that experience when advising clients whose marriage and financial planning may involve fertility treatment, gestational surrogacy, donor conception, or embryo-related issues.
Ms. Wu was educated in both China and the United States. She earned her U.S. law degree from the USC Gould School of Law. Before attending USC, she received a Bachelor of Law degree from East China University of Political Science and Law and passed China's National Judicial Examination.
Ms. Wu is admitted to practice law in California and New York. She is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
